Why you will love the new Bosch MyWay Third Rack

The original concept of cutlery tray was invented and patented by Miele in 1987. Miele cutlery trays offered great organization ability to discriminating users. Such as the ability to line up silverware pieces individually to prevent scratching, to allow deposits to be removed effectively with the help of the spray arm on the “ceiling” of the dishwasher, to dry cutlery pieces effectively. In addition, the Miele cutlery tray made unloading the dishwasher convenient.

Once Miele’s patent protections had expired, Bosch introduced the same concept in their dishwashers. Bosch cleverly named this tray as the “Third Rack” (a brilliant marketing name which resonates positively with users). However, compared to the Miele dishwasher silverware tray, we’ve always found the Bosch 3rd rack a bit bulky.

You will notice that our best dishwasher picks will include multiple Bosch and Miele dishwashers as these brands represent the best in class selection. While most people liked the functionality of the 3rd rack, i.e. more room in the lower racks, eliminate the need to bend down for silverware, over the years their use expanded. Families re-discovered the 3rd rack as a perfect cleaning spot for small cups and ladles.

In 2017, Bosch introduced a groundbreaking design which updated their 3rd Rack concept. The bulky, cheap plastic is finally gone and replaced by a sleek, spacious new MyWay Third Rack.

Angled two part design now gives room for ramekins, cereal bowls, measuring cups, ladles and more. You can even find a removable silverware tray with folding tines on this new MyWay 3rd Rack.

Bosch makes this remarkable “MyWay Third Rack” feature available in 800 Series and Benchmark dishwashers.
